Foil RunAlpha

Set up Foil Run on Garmin.

You need Garmin Connect on your iPhone or Android for pairing and uploads. The Foil Run phone app is optional; you can view your rides on foil.run.

Get Foil Run for Garmin

1. Get ready

Pair your watch with Garmin Connect on your phone. Then use the Connect IQ Store app to install Foil Run on your watch.

Which app does what?

Connect IQ Store installs the watch app. Garmin Connect carries uploads from the watch to your Foil Run account. The Foil Run phone app or website lets you view those rides.

2. Pair your account

Keep Garmin Connect open on your phone and open Foil Run on the watch. Follow the phone’s sign-in notification, match the four characters on phone and watch, then tap Connect watch.

Heart rate and motion uploads are optional. Review or change your choices in Account.

Already paired? Skip this step. Updates keep your pairing, privacy choices and saved rides.

No notification or stuck signing in?

With Garmin Connect open and your watch connected, select Send again on the watch.

Use your existing Foil Run account email and the six-digit code sent by email, or create an account. Enter the email code in the sign-in page inside Garmin Connect.

The Foil Run app’s Connected devices section lists watches after pairing. Start the connection from the watch.

3. Record and upload

  • Choose your sport to start recording. Wait for GPS fix before heading out. Your phone can stay ashore.
  • To save, press the watch’s physical Start/Stop button, then press it again to confirm.
  • Back near your phone, open Garmin Connect and leave Foil Run open on the watch. With Bluetooth and internet on, rides upload automatically to your Foil Run Logbook.
Saved in Garmin Connect but missing from Foil Run?

Garmin Connect and Foil Run keep separate copies. Leave Foil Run open on the watch with Garmin Connect open on your phone to upload the watch’s copy. You do not need the Foil Run phone app open.

If the watch says Not saved, keep its pending recording. A test stopped before GPS fix may have no usable track; Retry cannot add GPS points after recording stops. For your next recording, wait outside for GPS fix.

A ride in Garmin Connect is not imported automatically from its history. If it has a GPS track, you can export its original FIT file and upload it at foil.run/analyze.
